Inside Brussels – Alexis Van Maercke on steel for packaging in EU policy discussions
“It’s important to keep valuable materials in use” was the message I delivered at the recent MEP Awards in Brussels, using elements from the recent “Ik recycle blik” campaign to spread our recycling message to a policy-making audience.
We’ve re-designed steelforpackaging.org to encourage fresh thinking about steel for packaging - highlighting the strength and protective qualities of steel cans, but also the design and innovation potential of steel for packaging.
Since January, Tony Waite, Sales Director Packaging at Tata Steel Europe, is APEAL’s new President. He was at CanTech “The Grand Tour” last March in Istanbul, discussing the future of tinplate passivation.

Ideally we would like to see all pet owners buy food in cans. The good old trusted can is a 100% recyclable and is often processed into something new within 8 weeks. It is always helpful to wash out any leftover residue before putting it in your recycling bin
