It’s another record year for European steel recycling!
Thanks to the continuous efforts of consumers – who are both choosing a fully recyclable packaging material and disposing of it correctly.
It’s great news all round. For the steel producers, who welcome more steel scrap for more recycling into new steel products. And for the environment too, because recycling reduces the need for raw materials.

It might be another record year for steel recycling but it’s not the case for all packaging materials, and EU commitment to a more circular economy is stepping up with the 2022 review of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive (PPWD).
Raising the bar - 84% of steel packaging recycled in 2019
